The Business of Data Centers In-house Training

In addition to technical skills, data centers also need people who can sell and understand the market.

Amid the rapid growth of the data center industry, a shortage of talent remains a recurring issue raised by industry players. Beyond construction, management, maintenance, and other technical fields, data centers also require skilled sales and marketing professionals.

One of the challenges contributing to the shortage of sales and marketing talent is the complexity of the data center world, which demands deep knowledge. This factor, along with the lack of public awareness about the importance of data centers, makes these roles seem less appealing.

Telkom Indonesia responded to this challenge by participating in an in-house training program organized by the Nusantara Data Center Academy. The team from Telkom consisted of 12 individuals with diverse backgrounds and skills, ranging from business planning and marketing communication to data support and analysis.

Of course, this team faced their own challenges, such as a lack of in-depth knowledge about the market and operations, as well as the technical materials required when engaging with industry players or potential buyers of data center services. During the two-day training program, we witnessed their learning process—from actively asking questions and engaging in discussions to successfully passing the final exam.
